Cable Diameter Alarm Device

The Cable Diameter Alarm Device is used to signal to a technician of crossed armor wire or other large increase of diameter during spooling of a cable.

A Split Cable Die, sized to the required cable diameter, is placed on a cable while in motion. When a crossed armor wire or other large diameter change is encountered it catches on the Split Cable Die and pulls the Brake Away Switch out, causing the alarm to activate.  The Split Cable Die will stay located at the point at which it encountered the large diameter. At which point the technician can stop operation to examine the cause of the diameter change.

The system includes the following components:

1. 15 ft. 110 Supply Voltage Cord
2. Control Box with Alarm
3. 50 ft. Break Away Switch Cable
4. Brake Away Switch, with 6 ft connector
5. (qty. 1) Split Cable Die, size to required cable

Additional sizes of Split Cable Die can be ordered separately.

WARNING: when the alarm is activated, the spooler must stop as the Cable Die is still attached to the cable. Failure to do so can result in potentially damaging the cable.
